Homebuilders More Open Toward Offering Security, Other New Products for New Homes
DALLAS — Residential security systems installers looking to gain inroads among homebuilders can take comfort in a new report that says homebuilders are looking for them.
A survey by research firm Parks Associates found that with the housing market getting tighter in 2006, homebuilders are looking for new offerings like security, home automation and central vacuums to entice buyers. According to the report “2006 Builder Insights,” 30 percent of the builders are tasking employees to find new electronic security and other offerings for new homes.
“For years, builders have emphasized amenities like larger kitchens, bigger closets, and elegant master baths. But in this digital era, lures are expected to include multiroom audio, home theater, security systems and structured wiring,” says Parks Director of Home Systems Research Bill Ablondi, “all of which appeal to the new ‘iPod Generation’ of homebuyers.”
