Honeywell Security Expands Service With Acquisition of Genesis Cable

SYOSSET, N.Y. – Honeywell has purchased low-voltage wire and cable manufacturer Genesis Cable Systems LLC. Honeywell, parent company of Honeywell Security, already had a 30-percent interest in the company from its 1999 purchase of Pittway Corp. Terms were not disclosed.

Genesis Cable supplies wiring for access control, alarm and security systems, as well as cabling for other voice, video and data applications. In the coming months, there will be a transition where the Genesis name will give way to the Honeywell Security brand.

Genesis President Jim Coleman says the purchase is key to Honeywell’s business strategy. “Honeywell makes so many products that are ultimately connected to cable,” Coleman says. “Our business is right in the middle of an enormous growth period. It was an excellent time for Honeywell to do this.”

Honeywell says Genesis Cable and its 270 employees in Pleasant Prairie, Wis., will be part of the Honeywell Security and Custom Electronics unit.
