Warner Robins (Ga.) Adopts CryWolf False Alarm System After Yearlong Delay
Police delayed the implementation of the monitoring software in 2016 due to public confusion and other issues surrounding the city’s false alarm ordinance.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — City officials here are moving forward to implement the CryWolf false alarm monitoring system after more than a year-long delay.
Police Chief Brett Evans delayed the implementation of Public Safety Corp.’s monitoring software in June 2016 due to public confusion and other issues surrounding the city’s false alarm ordinance, according to The Telegraph.
Last year, Evans expressed to the City Council that he was displeased with the Maryland-based company’s responsiveness as he tried to work out public concerns. At the time, some residents said they did not like certain questions the company was asking people who were registering, including whether they had guns or dogs.

In a press release, Warner Robins police announced Tuesday (Nov. 14) that implementation of the system had begun. The false alarm ordinance — which the City Council voted unanimously in 2015 to approve — requires business and residential alarm owners to register their alarm systems and establishes an escalating fee schedule for false alarms.
The first two false alarms would not incur a fine, but the third would be $50. The fine would increase incrementally with each subsequent false alarm. By the 10th false alarm, the fine would be $300.
“Those that incur a false alarm that are not registered will receive a $100 fine,” the release states. “If your alarm is registered, your first false alarm is waived.”
Those with residential alarms must register by the beginning of 2018. Commercial businesses should already be registered as of Oct. 1, the news release states.
