Mitch Reitman probably didn’t expect to be the answer to a trivia question when he became the first person to answer three simple questions for loyal SSI readers one year ago today.
But the founder and managing principal of Reitman Consulting Group has become just that as the security leader whose Best Advice Q&A kicked off the series on June 2, 2025.
Who could have predicted when we posted Reitman’s responses that the series would still be going strong a year later, with 97 Q&As posted so far and more to come in the coming weeks (and hopefully months)?
Reitman’s answers were straightforward enough, sprinkled with enough detail to flesh out the responses to the first two questions and unwilling to single out one person in the security industry to whom all others should always listen, noting there are “too many to list.”
What’s Next for SSI’s Best Advice Q&A Series?
Since Reitman dipped his toe in the proverbial pool, 96 more security industry leaders — including several other SSI editorial advisory board members, SSI Industry Hall of Famers and heavy hitters across the sector have taken time to share the best advice they’ve ever gotten, tips for security pros on the rise and singling out others whose words carry a lot of weight across the sector — and we’ve got more in the queue ready to post soon.
The key part of the continuation and the success of the series has come from the third answer in the Q&A, where we ask respondents to single out someone whose voice resonates loudly across the security industry. When I’ve reached out to the person named in those answers, they’ve been humbled anyone thought of them in that way and been largely willing to pay the relationship forward by answering the questions themselves.
There are certainly plenty of security industry leaders who haven’t yet answered our Best Advice Q&A questions but we hope the series will continue running every Tuesday and Thursday for the foreseeable future. Based on the metrics and social media shares we’ve seen on these posts in the past year, we know you’re enjoying them and hope you’ll continue to do so.
