Security Sales & Integration: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Greg Parker: It sounds cliché, but I’ve learned so much about the value of collaboration throughout my career from peers, managers, and leaders alike. Whether it be working closely with colleagues to achieve shared goals or prioritizing opportunities to receive and implement customer feedback, I’m always thankful for open dialogue and tight-knit partnerships as we invest in the future of security.
SSI: What advice would you give to those looking to achieve success in the security industry?
Parker: Above all, prioritize keeping customers, employees and building occupants safe and secure. As we continue to leverage new technological applications and the potential of artificial intelligence, staying current with emerging trends is essential for operating with speed, streamlining workflows and maximizing proactive security efforts. Applying this knowledge effectively can give aspiring leaders a competitive edge.
SSI: If you could point to one person in the security industry and tell up and comers, make sure to listen to what they have to say. Who would you pick and why?
Parker: There are so many incredible leaders across the industry that it’s hard to narrow down – and it’s important to explore a variety of perspectives as we continue to innovate. Organizations like ASIS International serve as a valuable resource for security professionals at all stages of their careers for knowledge sharing and growth.
Participating in industry events like GSX and ISC West is an excellent opportunity to be a sponge and learn from some of the most well-respected voices in security.
