Long-time member of the security industry Sam Phillips died on Oct. 26, leaving behind his wife, two daughters, seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was 90 years old.
Phillips served as owner and president of Dictograph Security System in Indianapolis from 1964 until 1990. That’s when he sold the company, then called General Alarm, to his daughter Lisa and retired to concentrate on his love of wood working.
Phillips served as a U.S. Marine and was trained by the U.S. Navy as a fighter pilot for World War II and retired from the Indiana National Guard as a lieutenant colonel.
He attended Purdue University before joining the military. He graduated from Southport High School in Indianapolis in 1945.
