NFPA Adding Security Exhibits to Annual Conference and Expo
QUINCY, Mass.
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is adding security and electrical components to its annual World Safety Conference and Exposition. Traditionally known as the top show for fire alarm system manufacturers and installers, the World Fire Conference changed its name in 2002 and will broaden its scope further at the 2005 show, to take place from June 6-10 at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort.
“There’s a lot of integration of systems right now and it just seemed like a natural,” says NFPA Vice President of Meeting Services Al Sears. “A majority of it will be fire safety, but it also gives a chance for companies that do both to integrate their products in there.”
The security and electrical pavilion will fill about a fourth of the convention hall and feature the latest in products and systems. In addition, the NFPA will vote on security guides and standards at the Las Vegas expo.
Sears says there’s room for another stop on the security show schedule besides the ISC shows and ASIS. “We’ll have a broader audience than those shows and hopefully we can compete. Competition is healthy,” Sears says. “It is not like we’re doing a new security show. This is just an expansion of the show we already have.”
