Reliance Security Named Metrasens Distributor in Nevada

The company will distribute threat-detection products and provide security enhancements for counterterrorism and physical data security.

LAS VEGAS — Reliance Security, a veteran-owned, full-service security company providing solutions to individuals, businesses and events, announces a new distribution partnership with Metrasens for the state of Nevada.

Metrasens is a leading provider of advanced magnetic detection technologies offered in a wide variety of products for corrections facilities, counterterrorism measures, MRI safety, mental health security and physical data security.

Metrasens’ security products are noted for their portability, versatility and high degree of accuracy in screening for restricted threat items, according to the announcement. The systems run on batteries, so there is no need for a power source or costly infrastructure modifications.

These features provide security personnel flexibility to deploy screening anytime, anywhere. The core technology, ferromagnetic detection (FMDS) is designed to only find ferrous metal threats.

“We’ve been evaluating Metrasens’ products for a year now, using them at major events with clients,” says Joel Logan, COO, Reliance Security. “Unlike typical metal detectors, these products allow people being screened to flow freely past the detector without having to stop and empty pockets and remove shoes. Most times, people are not even aware they’re being screened. The units are easy to set up and the battery provides 10 to 16 hours of use.”

In the most basic terms, FMDS uses passive sensors that evaluate disturbances in the Earth’s magnetic field made by something magnetic moving through its detection zone. Everything else is invisible to it; it doesn’t see people, clothing, backpacks, purses, etc. Nothing can be used to shield the threat, because FMDS doesn’t detect metallic mass; it detects a magnetic signature, down to a millionth of the Earth’s magnetic field, according to the company.

“These products have improved our security screenings by allowing us locate hard to detect items,” Logan continues. “In addition to our security services, we’ve utilized these at our events to ensure we’re providing a safe environment for our clients and their attendees.”
