Growth Drives Security Integrator Secom to Open New HQ

Secom’s new facility in Columbia is three times larger than the company’s former headquarters, with a grand opening slated for July 15.

COLUMBIA, Md. — Secom, an installing security contractor, will soon celebrate the opening of a new, larger office here as well as a subsequent expansion in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, thanks to significant growth the company is achieving.

Secom’s new facility in Columbia is three times larger than the company’s former headquarters, according to an announcement. A grand opening is scheduled for July 15.

The new office is designed to offer Department of Defense customers hands-on experience with Secom’s Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) capabilities. Features include a state-of-the-art demonstration room outfitted with multiple access control, alarm, intercom, video surveillance systems and more.

“I’m amazed by our new headquarters,” says Secom Founder and President Mike Toomey. “Secom provides such a wide breadth of services, from helping small businesses avoid big trouble locally, to the national level where our state-of-the-art systems help to safeguard some of the nation’s most important information. This new space is the perfect showcase for what we do here. I can’t wait to share it with our customers.”

Secom will open its Virginia office July 1, with a specific focus on catering to the region’s UL 2050 and government clients. The Hampton Roads office is slated to host a grand opening celebration in the fall.

Industry veteran Jason Adams will serve as general manager for the expansion, having previously worked with Toomey for Honeywell Access Systems 20 years ago.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a resident of Virginia Beach, Adams has more than 20 years’ experience with integrated security and fire systems. He is an expert in designing and managing large scale integration projects in the commercial and government arena. He will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all projects throughout the region.

“I have such admiration for what Mike’s been able to accomplish with Secom in Maryland, and I’m thrilled to be part of the growing team,” Adams says. “I know Secom will be a tremendous asset to the Hampton Roads region, and Virginia at large, and we’re anxious to get to work.”

Secom’s UL 2050 certification authorizes the company to sell, install and maintain SCIFs within a specified radius of 200 miles or four hours, making the Hampton Roads office an ideal option for Norfolk and Richmond customers, the announcement states.

In addition to servicing UL 2050 accounts, Secom’s Hampton Roads team will provide security optimization for industrial, commercial and small businesses throughout Virginia.

“On a personal note, I’m incredibly excited to be collaborating with Jason once again,” Toomey says. “But most importantly, the entire Secom team is ready, willing, and more than able to deliver the same stellar quality and customer service that we are known for to our new colleagues in Virginia.”
