2000 Americas’ Security Expo (ASE) Miami: July 18-20

Published: July 31, 2000

The word is out! 2000 Americas’ Security Expo (ASE) Miami was a hit with security professionals from North America and Latin America. The July 18-20 event drew record numbers from previous years. ASE kicked up the Miami heat a few notches by hosting a Gala Americana Reception, which was sponsored by Camcol, Galaxy Controls, Ademco and R.O.C. Exhibitions.

Samba dancers wearing beaded costumes and feathered headdresses raised the room temperature a few more degrees as they gyrated to the rhythms of a live Samba band. Party guests had a chance to cool their tired heels, enjoy treats from the hors d’oeuvre buffet and relax with an exotic tropical drink.

At the show, attendees chose from a menu of educational conference sessions that were offered during the mornings and afternoons. Some of the seminars included “Effective Use and Sales of Wireless Alarm Monitoring Methods,” “Risk Management in the Workplace” and “School Safety Today Using Metal Detectors.” Many of the sessions were offered in both English and Spanish.

Many security professionals were impressed by the variety of product and service offerings on display, such as biometric systems, CCTV and fire/burg equipment.
Once the lights in the convention center shut down for the evening, manufacturers like Ademco and Tronex invited guests to party Miami style! Ademco hosted a luau with a lavish spread that included various pasta dishes. Tronex held its own festivities at a top Miami nightclub owned by entertainer Ricky Martin.
