Published: May 31, 2005

LAS VEGAS — The ISC West show is becoming evermore a time for the alarm industry to honor its finest individuals. Beyond the SAMMYs, several industry associations dealt out trophies and plaques during the expo.

The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) presented its second annual William N. Moody Award, named for the former ADT executive, to recognize the contributions of individuals to the industry. Ron Haner, director of dealer and government programs for Olympia, Wash.’s The Alarm Center Inc., received the award at an ISC press conference.

Haner helped develop the industry’s model cities and states programs and is past president of the Washington Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (WBFAA).

During the press conference, SIAC also formally announced the Police Quality Dispatch (PDQ) Award program — run jointly with Security Sales & Integration — to honor installing and monitoring companies that work to prevent false alarms. Look for more on the PDQ Award in upcoming SSI issues.
