LAS VEGAS — Electronic Control Systems (ECS) and its founder and President Geoff Winters got a big pat on the back at ISC West after taking two awards at the New Product Showcase (NPS) Awards ceremony for its UltraGuard Carbon Monoxide (CO) Life Safety System.
UltraGuard was tapped with the top prize of Judges’ Choice Award for Residential Products, as well as taking the product achievement award for fire detection/prevention. Winters sees the twin awards as being a big boost for his product, which not only detects excessive CO but also shuts the furnace that causes it.
“This will help get the awareness out,” Winters says. “We’ve tried very hard to create a product that’s the very best.”
The NPS, run by the Security Industry Association (SIA), honored the best among the new products introduced at this year’s ISC West. SSI Technical Editor Al Colombo was among the judges — the only judge from an industry trade publication. The “Best of Show” Innovation Award went to A4 Vision Inc. for its 3D Facial Enrollment Camera for access control.
Besides ECS, Honeywell Security was also a double winner at the awards with its LXL-1000 plug-in, wireless security system taking the award for intrusion detection/prevention and its LobbyWorks Suite visitor management system capturing the software award.
Cypress Computer Systems Inc. took the wireless achievement award for its DPX-7212 access control/card reader link. Cypress President Anthony Diodato says the product proved to be a winner when they presented it to the NPS judges.
“It was a matter of explaining the application and how it has helped the dealers,” he says. “And how it’s going to help the industry.”
