5th Time Will Get You a $200 Fine in Livonia, Mich.

LIVONIA, Mich.—According to official records in 1998, false alarms cost Livonia an estimated $170,000. In order to help deter residents and businesses from contacting the police when there is a false alarm, the City Council voted to increase fines for offenders. Alarm owners are allowed two false alarms annually without any penalty. The third false alarm will now cost $50, the fourth will cost $100, and the fifth will cost $200.
