Access Control, Airport Security to Highlight SIA’s Government Summit

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) will host its 2011 Government Summit June 21-22 at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.

During the event, SIA will address such topics as HSPD-12, biometrics and employee verification, privacy, homeland security funding and more.

SIA will also host the Airport Security Keynote Lunch on the first day of the conference. Scott Broyles, president and CEO of Safe Skies Alliance, a nonprofit consortium dedicated to advancing aviation security, will serve as the featured speaker. In his address, Broyles will discuss how manufacturers and integrators can participate in the Aviation Security System Integrated Support Testing (ASSIST) program.

The ASSIST program evaluates technology at airports nationwide from the point of proposal to the selection and testing of devices. A final report offers suggestions of technologies that would be beneficial for airports.

“This luncheon is an ideal opportunity for those who either already sell or want to sell in the airport security space,” says SIA Director of Government Relations Don Erickson. “They can learn more about the ASSIST program and how it can benefit their business.”

The summit will also host a debate between two political pundits – Bill Kristol, founder and editor of The Weekly Standard and Bill Press, host of the nationally syndicated radio talk show “The Bill Press Show.” The debate will cover policy and politics, including the impact of the 2010 midterm elections and the prospects for the 2012 presidential campaign.
