Acquisition Helps Illinois Firm Extend Reach Into Detroit

Published: April 19, 2006

An Illinois alarm firm has extended its reach into Detroit after acquiring more than 6,000 accounts. Long Grove, Ill.-based F.E. Moran Inc. Alarm and Monitoring Services has acquired Michigan’s Grosse Pointe Alarm Inc. for undisclosed terms.

In addition to its account base — mostly in the Detroit area — Grosse Pointe has 28 employees. As part of the deal, Grosse Pointe owner and founders Tom Stong and Bob Barnes will be retiring. General Manager Don Guinn and Mike Stong, son of the co-founder, will remain with the company, which will remain in its current facility.

The acquisition was the latest of many for F.E. Moran, including the February purchase of Life Safety Safety Design of Danville, Ill. As in that transaction, F.E. Moran was represented by Rod Davis, managing partner of Davis Marketing Group and member of the SSI Hall of Fame.
