Adesta to Upgrade San Francisco Transit Security

Published: October 21, 2008

Adesta, a systems integrator and project management company for communication networks and electronic security systems, has been awarded a $5.9 million contract to upgrade security for the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART).

The project, which is projected to be completed in early 2010, will take place in the cities of San Francisco and Oakland.

Adesta will implement a complex physical security device installation program in BART train stations. Nearly all the deployment activities will take place during night and weekend hours in order to avoid interrupting busy commuter schedules.

The project involves the installation of strategically located cameras, which will be connected to BART’s existing communications infrastructure. Upgrades will be made to several San Francisco and East Bay BART stations, as well as the Transbay Tube, which runs under the San Francisco Bay and carries half of BART’s 379,000 riders each workday.
