NASHVILLE, Tenn. — ADS Security announces the implementation of the ASAP (Automated Secure Alarm Protocol) to PSAP (Public Service Answering Point) alarm response program in their monitoring center. This program facilitates the transmission of information between alarm companies and public safety communication centers, reducing alarm response time. ADS joins only a select few alarm companies in the nation to go active with the ASAP protocol.

“ADS Security is proud to be at the forefront of new monitoring innovations and technologies that help keep our customers protected,” said Scott Lickteig, ADS director of monitoring operations. “The ASAP to PSAP Alarm Response Program will enhance our UL-listed, CSAA Five Diamond Monitoring Center and allow us to continue to provide the highest quality of service and response times to our customers for many years to come.”

ASAP to PSAP protocol eliminates the need for a phone call to be placed from the monitoring center to the PSAP, replacing it with a secure data transmission. This electronic transmission of information between the monitoring center and the PSAP includes details like addresses, keyholder info, PSAP request for additional information and what resources have been dispatched.

ADT Security says there are three main benefits of using ASAP to PSAP rather than traditional phone calls between monitoring centers and PSAPs:

  1. The electronic transmission of data virtually eliminates mistakes and miscommunications of humans talking over the phone.
  2. The elimination of a phone line from the transmission process can cut down 911 processing time by 2-3 minutes, which is 2-3 minutes faster that first responders can get to a situation and provide needed resources. This can save lives, help authorities more quickly extinguish fires and help apprehend criminals.
  3. This program minimizes call volume into 911 centers. This can save municipalities money and resources that can be better allocated elsewhere to serve the community.

Morgan Country, Ala. is the first PSAP to go online with the ADS Monitoring Center and utilize this new technology. ADS plans to continue to work with PSAPs across the Southeast to roll this program out in the other markets it serves.
