ADT AND VISIONICS TEAM UP FOR FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM
BOCA RATON, Fla.
ADT Security Services, a part of the Tyco Fire and Security Services unit, and Visionics announce that they have formed a strategic alliance to promote and resell the Visionics FaceIt® ARGUS. FaceIt Argus is a real-time facial surveillance and identification system and is able to handle virtually unlimited camera inputs and an infinitely scalable database. ADT will begin marketing FaceIt ARGUS through its Federal Systems and Aviation Division.
“ADT Security Services has a significant number of immediate opportunities requiring the delivery of facial recognition technology over multicamera networks and we believe that Visionics’ FaceIt ARGUS system offers the highest degree of performance in scalability, speed and accuracy,” says Paul Brisgone, vice president of ADT’s Federal Systems Division.
Dr. Joseph Atick, chairman and CEO of Visionics Corp., says, “We are pleased to be working with ADT Federal Systems and Aviation Division, an important new channel that will greatly assist in our ability to support the demand from federal government agencies and airports for FaceIt technology.”
FaceIt ARGUS uses a series of biometric network appliances (BNAs), with the encapsulated FaceIt technology, in order to capture faces on video or in real-time, then converting the facial images into faceprints in 84-byte templates. The faceprints are then shipped via a network to a server, where the facial matching process happens. If the faceprint is matched against one in the database, an alarm goes off, signaling an operator to verify the match. Unmatched images are discarded.
