Tyco Fire & Security’s ADT Security Services has secured a
deal with World Golf Hall of Fame inductee Annika Sorenstam
to receive her global name, likeness and image rights
through December 2006. Under the deal, Sorenstam’s golf bag
will feature ADT’s logo and she will participate in the ADT
Golf Skills Challenge through 2006, making her the first
woman since the event’s inception to play in the made-for-
television tournament.
The 2004 event, which has featured golf legends Arnold
Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, will be taped Nov. 15 at Trump
Int’l Golf Course in Palm Beach, Fla., and will air on NBC
Sports in December.
“Through ADT’s sponsorship of the LPGA’s ADT Championship,
we have come to know [Sorenstam] not only as a tremendous
competitor but as a person who tirelessly strives for
success and constantly pushes the boundaries of the sport
and herself,” ADT President Mike Snyder said in a
statement. “We couldn’t think of a better person to help
represent the ADT brand.”
