ADT Security Services Inc. (ADT) announced that is has been
given a five-year contract by the state of Colorado to
design and implement a complete security system for the
University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center
(UCDHSC) at Fitzsimons. The project is located on a former
army base in Aurora, Colo., and is designed to become a
world-class academic health center.

The site is expected to be home to 30 different facilities
by 2010, including hospitals, research centers, and
outpatient care centers, as well as classrooms, libraries,
and administrative and support buildings. ADT said Jan. 12
it will retrofit the 10 existing buildings with access
control, video surveillance systems, and related control
equipment while simultaneously designing systems for the
planned buildings. The company will also design an on-site
central command center for the security personnel at
UCDHSC.

Throughout the next five years, ADT will install a minimum
1,000 video surveillance cameras, numerous digital video
recorders and monitors, and will also implement a
centralized access control system operated with card
readers that will be spread across the campus. The company
will also maintain the facilities after installation.

ADT has already established an on-site office and
technicians have started work on retrofitting the security
equipment in current buildings.
