Several longtime employees of ADT Security Services will be presented with the Security Industry Alarm Coalition’s (SIAC) annual William N. Moody Excellence Award at the inaugural Electronic Security Expo (ESX). The event will be held June 25-27 at the Nashville Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn.

ADT honorees include Bill Cooper, Larry Dischert and Jon Sargent. The prestigious award was established by SIAC to recognize people who have made outstanding contributions to the alarm industry and a significant impact on the benefits that alarm systems provide to communities.

Cooper, industry liaison manager for ADT, has been engaged in alarm management issues for more than 20 years. He is a past president of the Kentucky Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (KBFAA), and serves as chairman of the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association’s (NBFAA) Industry Affairs Committee and is an active member of its Government Relations Committee. He has been involved with SIAC for the past four years and serves as its board-elected CARE (Coordinated Alarm Reduction Effort) chairman.

Dischert served as director of industry and regulator liaison for ADT prior to his recent retirement. During his 32-year tenure with ADT, Dischert was an instrumental part of a team assembled to develop the first “automation” of alarm monitoring in the mid-1970s.  In the following decade, he was a key member of a special ADT task force that rolled out automation in all of ADT’s European central stations.

Sargent, an industry relations manager for ADT, is currently president of the California Alarm Association (CAA).  His 35 years in the security industry include several leadership positions in law enforcement and alarm management organizations. He serves on the NBFAA board of directors and is the 2007 recipient of the association’s Chapter President of the Year. Sargent also serves as an industry/law enforcement liaison for SIAC in the western states and is a member of the False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA), California Peace Officers Association (CPOA) and California State Sheriff’s Association (CSSA).

“ADT has always been a champion in the industry on the importance of collaborating with law enforcement to enhance public safety,” says SIAC Executive Director, Stan Martin. “Jon Sargent, Bill Cooper and Larry Dischert have collectively dedicated many decades of service to the alarm industry.  The leadership and hard work of these exemplary ADT executives has really helped make a significant impact on the alarm industry and we are very grateful for their ongoing commitment and unwavering service.”
