ADT President and CEO Jim DeVries Diagnosed With COVID-19

ADT says DeVries has continued to perform his responsibilities as president and CEO since a positive test result was returned.

BOCA RATON, Fla. — ADT President and CEO Jim DeVries has tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, the company announced in a Form 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

After experiencing “mild symptoms,” DeVries was tested for COVID-19 on March 31, according to the filing. He was then informed April 7 the test results were positive. DeVries has continued to perform his responsibilities as president and CEO “at all times, and has not shown any symptoms since April 5,” the filing states.

The Company maintains succession plans for all senior executives including temporary delegation of responsibilities to other leaders within the organization if necessary, for any reason. The few people who were in close contact with Mr. DeVries in the last 14 days have been notified, and thankfully no one has shown any symptoms.

In 2018, DeVries, was promoted to CEO following the retirement of Tim Whall. DeVries was serving as president at the time of the promotion. He joined ADT as COO in 2016. Prior to joining the company, he held senior leadership roles at leading companies in the insurance, financial services and telecommunications industries, including as executive vice president for Allstate brand operations.
