ADT Security Services, a unit of Tyco Fire & Security, will install its Sensormatic® Ultra*Max® anti-theft systems in all OfficeMax® U.S. locations. Four hundred of OfficeMax’s 1,000 stores already have the anti-theft systems installed and initial positive results prompted the retailer to expand source tagging to include all stores.
Mike Snyder, president of ADT Security Services, said in a statement that source tagging – or placing an anti-theft label on merchandise during the manufacturing phase – affects store operations beyond theft control.
“Source tagging offers retailers a way to better display and merchandise high-demand products without increasing the risk of theft,” he said. “Retailers are seeing increased sales due to merchandising flexibility [as a result of] source tagging efforts.”
