BOCA RATON, Fla. – Given that its Pulse home security and automation system is partly powered by the Z-Wave wireless communications protocol, it makes sense ADT would eventually increase its membership role with the Z-Wave Alliance. The home security/monitoring market leader can now be counted as a principal member of the open consortium as well as a member of its board of directors.

Along with our other board members, ADT will help provide direction for the continued success of Z-Wave into existing and future markets.”
ADT leverages Z-Wave technology extensively throughout its product and service offerings. Steve Shapiro, vice president of industry relations for ADT, will assume the company’s seat on the Alliance’s board of directors.
“In becoming a principal member, we look forward to helping map further growth for Z-Wave throughout the security and automation markets, and to extending the technology’s leadership position,” Shapiro says.
The Z-Wave protocol was first introduced to the market in 2005. Adopted by more than 250 manufacturers, and featuring over 1,000 certified products in its ecosystem, Z-Wave is fully interoperable between all brands and is fully backward-compatible between versions.
