AES Cellular Alternative Secures UL Listing
AES Corp., makers of wireless communications systems for alarm monitoring, announces UL 864 Edition 9 listing for its 7705i wireless-to-Internet system. This technology enables fire and security alarm monitoring companies to offer two-way radio transmission wireless alarm communications to customers in multiple geographic regions. This specific UL Listing signifies that the system meets a high level of code compliance required of life-safety alarm communications equipment.
The 7705i provides a solution to the pending AMPS (advanced mobile phone service) Sunset Clause, an FCC decision to release cellular carriers from their obligation to continue providing AMPS (analog) service effective Feb. 18, 2008. Cellular carriers are generally motivated to terminate their AMPS cellular service as doing so will free up valuable space on their networks for digital customers. Security industry statistics show more than 750,000 units in place operating on AMPS service. Customers using radio-frequency alarms will not be affected by the AMPS Sunset.
The system deals with big network dynamics by taking signals off the network faster than currently available, according to AES. In addition to its ability to connect several mesh radio networks to operate as a single unified system, it enables large regional and national users of AES-IntelliNet networks to expand their system capacity and unify their coverage regions.
