American Fibertek Inc. (AFI) of Somerset, N.J., releases the USB 2.0 Transceiver Series, which allows any USB 2.0 device to be transmitted through a fiber cable network and fulfill longer distance requirements. The distances will certify transmission up to one kilometer on a multimode fiber and up to 10 kilometers on a single mode fiber, according to the company.
The product is available in module format for field use or rack card for control rooms. The USB 2.0 standard was developed to offer a complimentary high-speed transfer rate at 480Mb/s.
