NBC’s “Weekend Today” show featured New Jersey-based Supreme Security Systems in a segment offering ideas on how to secure a home. COO David Bitton, joined by NBC correspondent Janice Lieberman, offered tips of the trade and toured a New Jersey resident’s home to highlight a security system installation in the segment that aired Feb. 19.
Bitton suggested homeowners secure their homes by investing in an alarm system, trimming overgrown bushes and plants to reduce the number of burglar hiding places on property and ask for a neighbor’s help when they are out of town.
“Some of the most important tips are easy and inexpensive – it is just a matter of understanding where these vulnerabilities are in order to avoid inviting criminals into your home,” Bitton said on the show.
Lieberman provided extra tips to viewers for selecting an appropriate alarm company and service provider to meet their needs. She recommended verifying company licenses, researching the history of potential companies and looking into at least three different providers before making a decision. She also advised that homeowners ask for references and personally check them, and ask about equipment warranties and options for extended warranties.
