24-7 Security Inc., a Yonkers, N.Y.-based alarm company, has organized a food drive to help needy families during the holidays.

Through Dec. 24, 24-7 Inc. President and CEO Tom Fowler will be waiving the $249 installation fee for all security systems purchased by New York residents. Customers will still have to pay any monthly fees associated with the systems.

For every system purchased, Fowler will donate $100 in groceries and a $50 Target gift certificate to families in need. “The bottom line is helping kids who have nowhere else to turn,” Fowler says. “Hopefully the little bit we do for them can give them a brighter outlook on their future.”

The Westchester County Business Journal reports that 24-7 has already raised $3,400 as of Dec. 4, and that 24-7’s suppliers, among them Honeywell, Alarm Capital Alliance and Rapid Response, along with local area merchants, have also contributed to the effort. Fowler and his wife Noelle, vice president of 24-7, invite anyone who wishes to participate in the holiday effort to send small toys, a gift certificate for a local grocery store (which can be ordered online) or even grocery coupons to help them purchase as much as they can for the disadvantaged.

The Fowlers plan to organize the food drive against next year beginning in October. “I am going to keep my fingers crossed that next year we will be able to help many more people,” Fowler says. Noelle Brousseau-Fowler, formerly a caseworker with children’s preventive services, originally conceived of the idea to have the food drive.
