An alarm company based in Bradenton, Fla., is celebrating
its 30th anniversary. Electronic Protection Systems Inc.
(EPS) was started by Bob Dressel in 1976 and now brings in
$1.75 million in revenue.
Dressel told the Bradenton Herald that keeping hisstaff trained has played a role in his company’s success.
“In our business, it’s hard to find trained people. EPSemployees have to be able to work with computers and haveelectrical and low-voltage experience,” said Dressel. “And,of course, one of the main things is that they get alongwith people.”
Dressel is semi-retired, but still serves as CEO. His son,Bruce Dressel, now runs the day-to-day operations of EPS ascompany president. Just about all of EPS’ business iscommercial, with only 1 percent residential.
EPS, a GE Security dealer, lucked out last year when GESecurity moved its corporate headquarters into EPS’Bradenton neighborhood. This has allowed EPS’ 27employees to keep up continuously with training from GEwithout taking too far a trip.
