Alarm Industry Loses Long-time Friend, Advocate
HACKENSACK, N.J.
Tom Few Sr., an esteemed alarm industry veteran for more than 40 years, died July 19 at his home in New Jersey after a year-long battle with cancer.
Known affectionately to most as “Sr.,” Few enjoyed many professional successes, including the founder of the largest independent alarm monitoring company, Criticom Int’l.
Jerry Lenander, executive director of the California Alarm Association (CAA), announced Few’s passing in an E-mail correspondence to members.
“Tom’s integrity, loyalty and honesty were all qualities that endeared him to us. A man who made everything possible, wanted nothing in return, and taught us never to quit. He will be missed, but always remembered in our hearts,” Lenander wrote.
In the letter, NBFAA President and CAA Past President George Gunning extolled Few’s talent and intellect in promoting associations and the industry.
“What do you say about a guy who never said no to the associations when we needed something, when something needed to be done,” Gunning expressed. “He was a true friend to me and our industry and he will be missed.”
Few is survived by his wife Eleanor, his five children Suzanne, Tommy, Jeffrey, Robert and Kathleen, and two granddaughters Morgan and Madison.
