Alarm Industry to Discuss Issues on Capitol Hill

VIENNA, Va.

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) is encouraging its members and those in the alarm industry to come to Washington on March 14 to meet with the new congressional leaders and acquaint them with the organization’s legislative priorities:

  1. Ensuring that a VoIP consumer notification requirement is enacted into law.
  2. Enactment of Alarm Monitoring Reciprocity legislation.
  3. Getting Congressional support for a delay in the AMPs implementation date of February 2008.

Appointments may also be set on the afternoon of March 15 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. There will be a pre-meeting briefing early in the morning of March 14, so it is encouraged participants arrive the night before. Transportation to Capitol Hill will be provided from the host hotel, the Hilton Crystal City, located near Reagan Airport. Hotel reservation information will be e-mailed to those planning to attend.

Participants with operations or customers from Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington are specifically encouraged to attend. The members of Congress and Senators from these states play a key role in the setting telecommunications policy. In order to ensure appointments with the Senators and congressmen can be made, those planning to attend are encouraged to contact John McDonald and the CSAA immediately at (703) 242-4670 ext. 17 or [email protected].
