American Building Control Sells Off Distribution Operations
SAN ANTONIO
American Building Control Inc. has sold off its distribution and retail operations to Mace Security Products Inc. for $5.7 million. In the deal, Mace, a manufacturer of video surveillance products and its marquee pepper spray product, received the assets of electronic security product distributors and sellers SecurityandMore and Industrial Vision Source (IVS).
American Building Control, once known as Ultrak before it sold its CCTV business to Honeywell, announced in March its intention to divest itself of Securityand More and IVS as the company shifted its focus to supporting its MDI Security Systems and ABM Data Systems security integrator operations. American has since consolidated its MDI and ABM operations into a core MDI business.
“The proceeds from the sale of these noncore units will allow ABC to accelerate implementation of MDI’s business plan to deliver the best enterprise-level security solutions to the marketplace,” says American Building Control CEO Danny Mills.
In a press release, Mace touts the purchase as complementing its existing electronic surveillance businesses, though the company has not announce its plans for the acquired companies.
