ASG Buys Houston Monitoring Company for $1.5 million

BELTSVILLE, Md.

A move by a broadband company to sell off its alarm monitoring business is helping Beltsville, Md.-based integrator Alarm Security Group (ASG) LLC expand its reach in Texas. Eagle Broadband has sold its D.S.S. Security Inc. subsidiary to ASG for $1.5 million.

Eagle says it is getting out of the alarm monitoring business to concentrate more on its core IP communications business. Most of the accounts being purchased by ASG cover the Houston market.

In 2005, ASG had made several purchases of some of the D.S.S. accounts from Eagle. Under that previous deal, ASG was contracted to make Eagle payments. The D.S.S. purchase negates that deal and gives ASG control of all of the accounts.

“The acquisition of the entire business unit was a natural next step for us after the accounts purchase,” says Joe Nuccio, ASG’s CEO. “Eagle’s core assets and key members of its direct sales force will be a strong addition to our existing branch operations.”
