ASIS Int’l is set to provide online Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) basic health information security training. Provisions of HIPPA, established in August 1996, require the Department of Health and Human Services to adopt national standards for electronic health care transactions, code sets, identifiers and the security of health information.
By April 2005, HIPPA requires comprehensive information security practices for health care companies. The course will introduce such standards and explain their implementation features, who must comply, and potential compliance processes for a discounted registration rate of $90 for ASIS members.
The course comes from a partnership between Train for HIPPA and ASIS.
