Jeff Spivey, director with Security Risk Management Inc. of Charlotte, N.C., was recently promoted to the position of president of ASIS Int’l. Spivey is a 30-year veteran in law enforcement and private security. For the past 23 years, he has worked as consultant with corporations with regard to security management.
Spivey’s focus for 2006 relates to the redirection of the organization to its vision of “advancing security worldwide.” As part of this overall global mission, Spivey intends to help government and the security profession by developing effective strategies designed to address terrorism and other important security issues.
His plan also includes the streamlining of existing ASIS governance and volunteer leadership structures and processes so to better manage the key challenges and opportunities that show themselves in the security profession. He also intends to create guidelines and standards for the security profession, including the promotion of certification as a professional competency standard.
