ASIS NYC Chapter to Honor 9/11 Heroes With Person of the Year Award

NEW YORK — In observance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, ASIS Int’l’s New York City chapter will honor members of the NYPD, FDNY and Port Authority Police Department (PAPD). Held on May 12, the ceremony will take place during the chapter’s Person of the Year Luncheon at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The chapter will present the Person of the Year award to NYPD Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, FDNY Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano and PAPD Superintendent Michael A. Fedorko. The award honors safety and security contributions of an individual or group during the prior year. This year, the award credits police officers and firefighters who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. It also recognizes the continuing efforts of all three departments to maintain safety for the city.

“There is no greater sacrifice than to lose one’s life in the service of other,” says ASIS NYC Chapter Chair Kevin O’Brien. “We honor the memories of those fallen heroes and the dedication of those who live today with disabilities resulting from their acts of heroism. We also commend the men and women of the NYPD, FDNY, and the PAPD for their tireless efforts to mitigate potential risks, which threaten our communities.”

Themed “Remembrance and Thanks,” the luncheon will be held in conjunction with the 21st annual ASIS NYC Security Expo. Attendees can purchase luncheon tickets for $75 per person online or on site. Those purchasing tickets will receive complimentary registration to the one-day expo, held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
