ASIS 2016: Panasonic & Video Insight Feed Appetites for Surveillance Innovation

The video vendor and its acquired VMS specialist unveil the new i-PRO Extreme line and technologies over lunch.

ORLANDO, Fla. – Panasonic and its video management brand Video Insight jointly updated attendees on the latest camera, recording and VMS developments during a packed luncheon session. The focus centered on the manufacturer’s new i-PRO Extreme technology platform, which provides a native end-to-end H.265 system while also delivering enhancements in image quality, system reliability, IP security and embedded intelligence.

The presentation included discussion of new video and data analytics, compression that improves upon the advantages already inherent in H.265, new hard disk drive developments and what Panasonic calls Extreme Visibility to capture high quality images automatically in dynamic and challenging lighting environments. In addition, the line offers “Extreme Data Security” and secure communications as the vendor has enlisted Symantec to provide third-party certifications.

It was also announced that the Video Insight VMS is now included in all Panasonic cameras. However, its open platform software and five different client offerings continue to be made available to and used by, at the latest count, 131 other manufacturers.
