AvaLAN Acquires Radio Chipset Capabilities

Wireless Ethernet product manufacturer AvaLAN Wireless has acquired intellectual property from Eleven Engineering, a fabless semiconductor company, in a cash and stock transaction.

The purchase applies to intellectual property related to Eleven Engineering’s ETHx product line and rights to produce custom silicon implementations based upon Eleven Engineering’s XInC2 microprocessor core. The XInC family of processors was designed for use in wireless applications. The ability to produce custom silicon enables allows the company to become a radio chipset manufacturer, according to AvaLAN.

The deal follows a three-year exclusive license AvaLAN previously held for the ETHx product. Terms of the transaction were not released.
