AvantGuard Runs to Raise Funds for Childhood Cancer

OGDEN, Utah — Nearly 100 AvantGuard Monitoring Centers employees participated in a 5K Run/Walk Saturday to raise funds for a 2-year-old boy diagnosed with cancer.

AvantGuard CEO Josh Garner decided to donate all proceeds of the 5K to Griffin Shaw after one of his employees shared the child’s story. Doctors diagnosed the toddler with Rhabdomyosarcoma when he was 15 months old. In February, he was declared in remission, but in August, a follow-up scan revealed active cancer cells. Following the announcement, Griffin began a 33-week plan of chemotherapy and more surgeries.

The firm raised $530 for Team Griffin. The Shaw family greeted the runners at the conclusion of the race.
