Axis Opens Atlanta Center to Supply American Distributors
CHELMSFORD, Mass.
Axis Communications has opened a new configuration and logistics center in Atlanta in an effort to provide enhanced product supply to North American and South American distributors.
The new center is part of the video surveillance network camera provider’s growth strategy to offer its services closer to its American-based customers. Previously, distributors in the Americas received products from Axis’ configuration and logistics centers in Thailand and Sweden.
“We will be able to serve our customers in the North and South American markets via more efficient transportation, which will also reduce the environmental impact,” says Per Ädelroth, vice president of Axis’ supply chain operations. “Going forward, products from our manufacturers will be transported to Atlanta in bulk packaging, where final configuration and individual packaging will take place before being sent out to our distribution partners. This will shrink the transport volume by more than half, reducing the environmental impact and costs.”
The Atlanta location was selected because of its proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Int’l Airport and the Port of Savannah.
