BellSouth announces it is working with builders and developers in its nine-state region to install advanced home wiring networks in new homes and apartment units. BellSouth(r) Digital Passport Services’ structured wiring program integrates voice, high-speed data, video, security and home automation all in one networked system. The company has already wired the Northlake Park townhomes by Divosta Homes in the Lake Nona Community in Orlando, Fla., and has a contract with The Finger Companies to wire apartment homes at Lindbergh Place in Atlanta. The system includes state-of-the-art home wiring, a central distribution panel and receptacles in each room of the house. Each receptacle provides homeowners with connections to three types of wiring—high-speed phone lines, fiber-optic cable and coaxial cable—to best deliver multiple types of communications throughout the home or apartment unit.
“With the emergence of broadband and the Internet, consumers who take advantage of these types of services in their business are demanding them in their homes,” says Paul Roberts, director of Home Networking Solutions for BellSouth. “But without the right wiring in the home, you will not be able to fully enjoy those services.”
