‘Big Easy’ Integrator Gets Big Project

NEW ORLEANS – Systems integrator and distributor Southern Electronics Supply has been awarded a contract to install 1,000 security cameras for the city of New Orleans and its police department. The cameras will be installed in random spots of the city in an effort to deter crime. Southern Electronics Supply, based in New Orleans and founded in 1932 as Southern Radio Supply, supplies electronics products throughout the South and will oversee the New Orleans installation as general contractor.

“The city had some unique needs because it needed appliances on poles connected directly to the power grid,” says Southern Electronics President Iggie Perrin. “The city was originally just looking to us for the camera supply. We convinced the city that we would be able to do the work and keep the work local.”

Among the subcontractors that Southern Electronics will be working with are New Orleans-based electrical contractor Robinson Industries and CCTV provider Active Solutions, also of New Orleans.
