Q: I am about to propose a residential fire alarm for someone who has a family member that recently became deaf. Can you suggest any special devices?
A: They make inexpensive “shaker” devices that can be placed in a deaf persons bed. One source I located is called The Vibe at Maxiaids (www.maxiaids.com).
Q: I have been looking for an alarm contact that has built in surge suppression. I think it was Moose that had one for a while. I cannot locate a source now, however. Do you know if anyone has a alarm circuit suppression device?
A: GRI is about the closest I can think of as far as alarm loop circuit surge suppression. They have in-line suppression devices for alarm loops called “CS Current Suppression Series”. Check them out at www.grisk.com.
Another suggestion would be to put a 0.1 Amp fast-blowing fuse in-line yourself.
