I recently had the opportunity to pick the brain of one of the industry’s intrusion detection insiders, Dennis Petricoin of Bosch Security. The interview was originally sent out by SSI for Bosch but the content is strong enough to merit wider exposure via Under Surveillance and stands on its own as an editorial piece. The conversation swings from Bosch Security’s technologies, the company’s new product development plan for the U.S. market, an overview of the product roadmap and a new control panel that debuted at ISC West, and how it all benefits installing dealers and integrators.
Below is the teaser for the piece, which requires user registration to view in its entirety with photos. If you haven’t already seen it, I also recommend this account of my 2009 visit to Bosch’s Fairport, N.Y., intrusion headquarters, and this interview with Bosch executives interview from 2008 .
As always, thanks for reading …

I understand Bosch has refocused intrusion development for the U.S. Could you explain the reasoning behind this shift?
Petricoin: Historically, our approach has been to try to find common ground in the various markets around the world. Now, we are moving toward a regional approach and are currently focusing our energy on the Americas. To facilitate this, we have … read more>>
How do you see these changes affecting installing security dealers and integrators? What are the challenges and opportunities?
Petricoin: We think the regional focus is a real benefit for our customers. When we developed our current program for the Americas, we spent time reviewing what customers like and dislike about our products and our competitors’ solutions. This has given us the information we need to develop a product roadmap that includes the best … read more>>
