Bosch Security Names New President After Ribinski Departs

FAIRPORT, N.Y.

Security Sales & Integration has learned that Peter
Ribinski will be leaving his position as president of Bosch
Security Systems and will be replaced by Shamus Hurley, who
has been vice president of the Americas region. The change
in leadership will take place on Oct. 1 and will put Hurley
in charge of Bosch’s security business in North America.

Ribinski, who was
TARGET=’_blank’>profiled as part of SSI‘s special
manufacturers’ issue in May
, has been promoted and is
heading back to Europe where he will join the board of
Bosch’s Power Tools division in Germany.

Ribinski has a long history with Bosch, joining the company
as an electrical engineer in 1980. He became president of
what was then Bosch Detection Systems in January 2001 after
Bosch purchased Detection Systems Inc., which included
Radionics.

Hurley has a 16-year history in the fire alarm and security
industry. He has been with Bosch Security Systems since
joining up in 2002 as vice president of sales and was
promoted to his current position in 2003.

“During his three-year tenure with Bosch, Shamus has been
instrumental in successfully transitioning three brands
under the Bosch banner and the Americas region has almost
tripled in size under his leadership,” said Uwe Glock,
chairman of Bosch’s global security business, in a
statement.

Before joining Bosch, Hurley held sales and management
positions at Honeywell in its Protection Services, Building
Services and Automation Control divisions.

Hurley holds undergraduate degrees in engineering sciences
from the Royal Military College of Canada and a Bachelor of
Science specializing in physics and marketing from
Concordia University.
