GREER, S.C. – Bosch Security Systems has opened its newly-constructed 156,000-square-foot distribution center here, which will be responsible for receiving, storing and shipping more than 50,000 electronic security products.
In addition to storing and shipping video surveillance, intrusion and fire detection, access control and management systems, associates will also handle professional audio and conference systems. Employees will also create product kits and support light assembly for customer-specific projects.
The facility is designed around a Lean Logistics concept to allow for a flexible product storage design and standardized processing, which ensures speed and accuracy for fulfilling orders for customers across North and South America, according to a company press release. The site will also serve as a regional technical training center for Bosch Security Systems customers.
“With the successful opening of our distribution center, we are leveraging synergies with multiple Bosch facilities in the state and benefiting from close proximity to the South Carolina Inland Port,” Bosch Security Systems Regional President Christopher Gerace says. “This will allow us to enhance our service to customers through greater efficiency and flexibility.”
Bosch announced last year that it would open the new facility after revealing plans to shut down its Lancaster, Pa.-based distribution center in early 2015.
Bosch Security Systems, a division of Bosch Group, employs more than 12,000 associates worldwide. The company employs more than 4,000 associates among four facilities throughout South Carolina. The latest distribution center adds more than 50 new Bosch associates located in the state.
