Bosch to Shut Down Pa.-Based Distribution Center

LANCASTER, Pa. – Bosch Security Systems will dismiss roughly 75 of its employees when it relocates its distribution center here in early 2015.

The manufacturer decided to move its operations to speed deliveries for customers and reduce freight costs. It is unclear where Bosch will relocate its operations, although a spokesperson for the company said the firm has its sights on a U.S. city in the southeast region, Lancaster Online reports.

Affected salaried workers will have the opportunity to apply for open jobs for which they are qualified. Other employees will receive a severance package.

The 213,000-square-foot property formally served as a manufacturing center for cameras, display monitors, recorders, switching systems and accessories. Now, the operation performs some camera assembly.
