New Hampshire is expected to provide better security for
the Interstate 95 bridge that links the state with Maine.
Through a $100,000 federal grant, Concord expects to install cameras, fences, and alarms. According to the Associated Press, the new alarms will be installed along with fences on either side of the bridge, which crosses the Piscataqua River at the port of Portsmouth, to protect land approaches.
New cameras as well as those already installed on two nearby bridges will be used to monitor vehicle traffic and provide video surveillance of the bridge’s underside and the harbor channel. According to AP, the camera’s digital video will then be made available .t.o local law enforcement, U.S. Coast Guard and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
