Burglar Alarm Thwarts Wall-Breaking Thief

FREMONT, Calif.
Published: April 25, 2006

A wall couldn’t stop a burglar in Fremont, Calif., but a burglar alarm did. A burglar that robbed a nonalarmed nail salon broke through a wall to get into an adjoining dental office, but was thwarted by the dentist’s burglar alarm system.

Fremont police told the Argus that the thief broke into Crystal’s Nail Salon and stole $40 in cash and a gold leaf decoration. Trying their luck, the burglar then kicked a hole in the wall and entered the dental office. Sensors in the office detected the intruder and the burglar then escaped through the front door of the nail salon.

The thwarted thief is still at large, according to Fremont police.
