California Alarm Association (CAA) members discussed some of the hot issues in the alarm industry during its 2005 summer convention in Palm Springs, Calif., May 12-14.
The CAA reported a 25-percent increase in attendance for this year’s summer event at the Hilton Palm Springs Resort. Educational sessions were capped by a thorough analysis of NFPA 731 (see story on page 12). Another session featured a mock city council demonstrating how to deal with city governments formulating alarm ordinances. Stan Martin, executive director of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), filled in as the “mayor.”
